Phil John Jones

Phil is an English tutor with a first class degree in American and English Literature from the University of East Anglia. He has previously worked as an in-school intervention instructor for GCSE and A-Level students.

‘My focus is on helping students to engage with texts, build strong analytical skills, and express their ideas with clarity and precision. Sessions are always tailored to the individual – starting with a discussion of key areas to improve, selecting relevant texts, and working through structured exercises to strengthen both writing and analytical ability.

I work with students from Key Stage 3 to A-Level, ensuring that lessons are practical, engaging and results focused. I take a calm and personable approach to tutoring. My goal is to make English feel more accessible while helping students build the confidence they need to succeed.
